Regarding swing trading I received the following email I would like to share
my thoughts on:

Let me start out by saying swing trading is by no means a conservative approach to investing. You are always at risk of a black swan event ie news that causes a large loss immediately.

That being said however I dont consider making 1 to 3 percent return in a day or 2 pennies. You can manage your risk by the amount that you invest initially. A comfortable level for me is 20 to 25,000 dollars per trade. Certainly you can increase it or decrease depending on your comfort level. Most of the stocks I trades the amount you trade is not an issue since that are mostly all high volune stocks.

Over the years I have considered many different methods of swing trading. Many use the breakout approach...some use moving average cross overs....but there are just too many methods to mention. The problem with those I have found is the whipsawing that takes place.

With mean reversion the key to me is having a basket of stocks that are solid companies. Then its simply Identifying the market being oversold and the stock being extremely oversold.

So far I have had 6 trades I have posted and we have made money on all 6. But its not this easy and there will be losses.

I hope this gives some insights and if anyone has any other questions please ask away.

Wedn plays

Nothing again close today.

We are out of both swing trades and made a profit on both. The market is pulling back and with fed announcement in a few hours anything can happen. Its usually best to be out before a fed announcement unless the market is extremely oversold going into it.

I will be looking for another 2 or 3 day pullback to do a few more swing trades.

Swing trades

The market gapped up this morning with both financials and semis up over 1% Breath is around 5-1 but the trin started out at .50 and has been rising and is now .90.

Combining that with the fact that this is a fed day leads me to believe that a pullback is highly likely. Although as with sports betting swing trading is playing the percentages with only slight edges.

We are still in utx which is trading at 52.13 giving us a small loss. I will monitor this and in all likelyhood will be out before the fmoc announcement.

Sunday mlb lean

We got the max saturday losing in extra innings with our team scoring in the top of the 12th and then the cubs scoring 2 to win. Then in the wnba getting +4.5 and +6 our team lead by 10 at the half and 5 at the end of the 3rd quarter losing the game by 9:(

Oh well thats sports betting.

it was a tough loss today with Cleveland. In the wnba the line has now moved to 6 in most places. That would now qualify Cleveland +6 as a play.

We won our toronto lean Thurs for +1.52 units. Today nothing even close to a play

I have received a few emails asking when people should start looking for swing trades. Usually after the market has pulled back for two days you can start checking in.

We are 4-0 on our swing trades all turnng in nice gains in just a day or two.

We won our arizona lean wedn lets see if we can get on an
upswing.

We closed our our kft trade this morning for a +554 gain. My transaction
cost is 8.00 in and out. You can do much better then this but im not inclined to
go through the work of setting up another trading account for the few trades I make a month that are swing.

As it turns out we got in a little early and out a little early. But that is the nature of swing trading.

I sold 1000 kft at 25.60. The reason

1. its up almost 3 percent this morning...semis are down even with the early rally and breath isnt quite 3-1. We will take our profits.

kft update

20 min now after the open kft is up .40 trading at 25.29.

The market is flat with kft being up 1.65 percent. If we get a rally in the markets
we should see a nice gain over what we have now in the stock.


Breath is even and the trin is at .64 which is positive on the trin. Financials are up 1.47 percent. The only negative right now is the nasdaq. But overall the risk reward says to me to hang in there for more of a gain.

We will see....how things shape up this morning.

Nothing again today. I know this is getting boring...but im taking a very disciplined approach to baseball. Its one of the toughest to handicap profitably.

The stock market is in a consolidation phase right now with no real pullback. The only sector that is ripe for a rebound is health care. But without the market being oversold also I am reluctant to place and position.

Not much I can see in the laker game. The betting is split about even on both the sides and the total. Also the line looks about right. I am passing on the game

Sunday we had Seattle +170. They had a 8-1 lead going into the bottom of the 6th..and then an 8-6 lead going into the bottom of the 9th and lost 9-8:(

It dosnt get any worse then that. Now if that game caused you anguish then you are betting to much! You should be able to laugh a loss like that off.
