We split on our ncaa plays on sat with Arkansas getting routed but air force hanging in the game to cover.

My Hilton Picks today in the order I like them today.

I went 4-1 last week and am now 6-4 after week 2.

The only game that could develop into a play is Green Bay. Its close now but with the parameters I use it just dosnt quite make it.

I will post the game on my blog about a half hour before the game if it becomes a play.

Green Bay will be in a similar position as Cleveland last week with it being a late Sunday game. The public pounded Pitt late as a break even play for the day and lost. I expect something similar to happen tonight when the afternoon games are over.

We won our play with Cleveland +6 on Sunday. Also I had a good day in the Hilton contest with a 4-1 day bringing me to 6-4 or 60%.

great job this weekend. wish I had the patience to bet only two games this weekend. lost 1 full unit in juice on all my plays. 9-9. I bet way too many games this week.

Question: Do you ever have a max # of plays set in a given weekend? Or does it all depend on the system and the card?

My answer:

It all depends upon the variables I look at. If 10 plays came up I would be betting all 10! If none then I am betting no games.

It takes a great deal of discipline to make money in any form of gambling. Not only do you require an edge but also patience and control. And even then its not easy:)

I don't quite understand why you post late plays for NFL & NCAA and other sports in seperate columns, all it does is clutter up your site.When I go to your site I want to see the bottom line for your picks,not search around to see if there were any late plays to add to your seasons picks.I noticed someone else questioned you about your record because he didn't see your late play record.You could still post a late play record if that is a concern.JIMMY B Isn't this much easier to read with just a quick glance.

My answer:

It would be much easier. But also would create some problems.

I started out 2 years ago with the idea of posting my early plays on this blog that would be 100% verifiable. My late plays for over a year were just sent out via email and not posted on this board so they were not really verifiable. It is only recently I began also posting my late plays.

In addition after talking with several handicappers I respect they pointed out there well could be a difference in the plays that are clear in the morning compared to the plays that are late plays.

Let me give this some thought and perhaps I can make a separate page with the combined early and late plays for all of the sports. If anyone else has thoughts on this please send me an email.

I received the following email:

I've one question to you. Last year you post it more picks each NCAAF saturday and this year you post 0 last saturday & 1 this saturday. Which is the reason? Do you believe that it's better to post fewer picks or really nothing good you can see? In the next weekends will be the same strategy or you thing that you post anything else?

My answer:

I am guessing on the sides that the plays should be about the same as last year on both ncaa and pros. On the ncaa totals however last year the totals were sky high creating a great opportunity. But this year I have noticed they are much lower because of a rule change.

It is....if you look at the late plays it is 0-1 on ncaa fb reflecting the temple loss. Temple was a late play. Ucla was an early play.

Tues plays

We won our ncaa football play with ucla winning the game outright as a 7.5 point dog.

Also our late plays in mlb split with san diego losing but Seattle winning.

So a +1.68 unit day.

Today nothing early I can see and looks like there will be nothing late today. Nothing close.

How would a bet (offered at Bodog) of: Army +7.5 -115 compare to Army +7 even? Is there a down a dirty formula for these situations?

My Response:

My rule is to never lay more then 110 on any point spread game. I am sure there is a formula where it becomes a positive ev but is probably so rare not worth paying attention to. At -110 the juice is 5%. So I am always shopping around to lay less. With 2 online books and a variety of books here in vegas I usually can reduce the vig on most games.
